The course begins with the first unit (about 6 hours) devoted to teaching the rules of the road and the many traffic signs. At the end of this section the student can take the written portion also known as the knowledge test. Upon passing the test the student can download and print the learner's permit certificate and head to the Texas Department of Public Safety to apply for their learner's permit. Once the student has obtained the learner's permit they can now start the 44 hours of in-car driving lessons required with the Parent Instructor.
